PHILOSOPHY

The UMS Faculty of Medicine has a dream of giving birth to intelligent people who can always bring goodness and benefit to those around them. Of course by prioritizing Islamic values and Muhammadiyah. In accordance with the first revelation for humans is IQRA’ (lecture) which in a broad sense is learning-teaching-practicing activities that follow God’s instructions (bismirabbukal ladzii kholaq, ‘allama bil qolam and wa rabbukal akram). On this basis, the philosophy of the Faculty of Medicine is abbreviated as I Q R A

I

ILAHIAH

Iqra with the names of Allah, Sunnatullah and the commands and guidance of Allah

Q

QURAN-GUIDED

Iqra who is guided by instructions, verses, tamsils, narrations, commands and warnings contained in the Quran both kauniyah and qauliyah

R

RATIONAL; RELIGIOUS; RAHMATAN LIL ALAMIN

Iqra which is processed rationally, as a manifestation of a religious attitude capable of producing works and charities that bring rahmatan lil alamin

A

AKHLAQUL KARIMAH

Iqra which is able to produce superior, noble human behavior which is realized through exemplary (uswah) which brings benefit to the people

In addition to adhering to the philosophy of UMS FK, there are 4 main characteristics that are developed in UMS FK Education so that it can produce people who give direction for change, including:

SHIDIQ

(honesty)

Sidiq means honest. Honest means telling the truth, conveying the truth. The opposite is a lie. Lies are the mother of all acts of sin, injustice and corruption in the world. This is contrary to the 3 values of worship, caliph and isti’marah

AMANAH

(trustworthy)

Amanah means not taking advantage of something that is not his right. The opposite is treason. The source of the nation’s damage, namely corruption (facade) which is the destruction of the values of the caliph, originates from this treacherous nature; namely taking advantage of something that is not his right, especially from something that is entrusted to him, namely a position in government.

TABLIGH

(sharing)

Tabligh means conveying, forwarding, sharing with others. The opposite is to hide (katama, yaktumu, kitman), to keep for oneself. In English, it can be translated “sharing”, sharing. This spirit of sharing is very strongly taught in Islamic teachings. Sharing knowledge/information and sharing wealth/prosperity.

FATHONAH

(caring)

Fathonah means to understand, understand and care about the surrounding conditions. Its opposite is to neglect, to neglect, to ignore. Concern for the surrounding conditions is very closely related to the nature of “sharing” above. A person will not be able to share with others when he does not understand, does not recognize the circumstances around him. Someone who is expected to be able to become an agent of change must be able to identify the conditions and problems faced by the surrounding community.
