October 17, 2025 — A health education session on “Early Detection of Breast Cancer” was held at the KH. Mas Mansur International Dormitory, Universitas Muhammadiyah Surakarta (UMS). The event was part of the Baitul Insan Kamil (BIK) Clinical Rotation Program organized by Young Doctors from the Faculty of Medicine, UMS (FK UMS).
The session was led by Rizki Wijaya, S.Ked., under the supervision of dr. Haryono, Sp.B (RSUD Karanganyar) and dr. Busyra, M.Sc., Sp.FM from the Faculty of Medicine, UMS.
The activity aimed to improve knowledge and awareness among the community — particularly female dormitory residents — about the importance of early breast cancer detection. The material was delivered through an interactive approach, including a breast self-examination (BSE) simulation as a preventive and early detection measure against breast cancer risk.
Through this event, participants were encouraged to recognize early signs and symptoms of breast cancer and understand the importance of performing BSE regularly. The participatory approach was intended to foster awareness of the value of self-examination and the active role women play in maintaining their own health.
This health education session is part of the Faculty of Medicine UMS’s community service efforts in health promotion and prevention, while also providing medical clerks with hands-on educational experience in delivering practical, community-based health information.
