October 17, 2025 — A health education session on “Wise Social Media Use and Mental Health Awareness” was held at SMP Muhammadiyah 7 Colomadu Excellence Program. The event was part of the Baitul Insan Kamil (BIK) Clinical Rotation Program carried out by Young Doctors from the Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Muhammadiyah Surakarta (FK UMS).
The session was led by Luk-luk Sa’adatus Syifai, S.Ked., under the supervision of Dr. dr. Adriesti Herdaetha, Sp.KJ., M.H. (Regional Psychiatric Hospital) and dr. Fathiyyatu Assa’diy Firda, M.K.M. from the Faculty of Medicine, UMS.
The activity aimed to raise teenagers’ awareness of the impact of social media use on mental health. Participants were encouraged to understand the importance of using social media wisely and maintaining a healthy balance between online activity and real life.
Through interactive presentations and open discussions, students were given the opportunity to share their experiences and perspectives on social media use in daily life. The session sought to encourage teenagers to be more mindful of their mental well-being while using social media in a positive and responsible manner.
This initiative is part of FK UMS’s efforts to foster the active role of medical students in mental health promotion and prevention, particularly among junior high school teenagers.
