Biomedical Laboratory

Our Biomedical Laboratory is designed to support the education of future physicians in mastering fundamental biomedical sciences. Its primary focus lies in biological processes, human body structures, and disease mechanisms. The laboratory is equipped with four specialized sub-laboratories that support modern medical research and development.

The Biomedical Laboratory consists of four specialized sub-laboratories: Biomedical I (Anatomy, Histology, Physiology), Biomedical II (Clinical Pathology, Microbiology, Parasitology), Biomedical III (Pharmacology, Biochemistry), Biomedical IV (Anatomical Pathology, Molecular Biology),  >Lab Usage Request

Pharmacology

This flagship Pharmacology laboratory focuses on education, research, and the development of natural products within modern pharmacology.

It is equipped with extraction systems, a rotary evaporator, and a simplicia drying oven to support pharmaceutical research.

The Molecular Biology Laboratory is an ideal facility for DNA analysis and PCR testing. It supports core molecular diagnostic techniques, providing a strong scientific foundation relevant to modern medicine.

The laboratory offers services for DNA extraction and analysis, polymerase chain reaction (PCR), electrophoresis visualization, and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA).

The Clinical Pathology Laboratory functions as a leading facility for analyzing body fluid samples to support disease diagnosis, patient monitoring, and post-treatment evaluation.

Equipped with essential diagnostic instrument, including a hematology analyzer, semi-automatic clinical chemistry analyzer, and semi-automatic urine analyzer, the laboratory enables accurate and consistent basic hematology, clinical chemistry, and urinalysis examinations.

The Anatomy Laboratory is an ideal place for studying the structure of the human body. It is equipped with digital technologies and instructional models that support students in understanding human anatomy more effectively.

Anatomy practical sessions are further enhanced through a wide range of teaching aids, including cadavers, cranial models, trunk models, upper limb models, lower limb models, and thoracic models.

The Histology Laboratory serves as a dedicated facility for microscopic analysis of biological tissues in living organisms.

The Physiology Laboratory provides a comprehensive set of facilities for assessing physical and physiological functions, ranging from respiratory system evaluation to cardiovascular performance.

It is equipped with essential instruments such as spirometers and electrocardiogram (ECG) devices.

The Microbiology Laboratory functions as a leading facility for the study and research of microbes and bacteria.

It is equipped with essential supporting instruments, including autoclaves, laboratory ovens, and centrifuges, to facilitate microbiological research processes.

The Parasitology Laboratory is an ideal setting for studying parasites that cause diseases in humans and animals. It provides facilities for blood, fecal, and urine examinations, supported by modern equipment to ensure credible and reliable analysis.

Complete with trinocular microscopes, centrifuges, and other advanced instruments to support parasitological research and learning.

The Biochemistry Laboratory offers a well-equipped facility for studying and investigating chemical processes in living organisms, including enzyme reactions, metabolism, and cellular components.

The Anatomical Pathology Laboratory is specifically designed to analyze diseases of the human body, including cancer and tumors. It provides an ideal setting for observing cellular changes caused by disease.

The laboratory offers facilities for anatomical pathology tissue examinations, hematoxylin–eosin staining, and cytological analysis. Equipped with basemolds, water baths, hot plates, and paraffin dispensers to support diagnostic and research activities.

Field
Laboratory

The Field Laboratory provides future physicians with direct engagement in community settings, enabling them to understand and address real-world public health challenges while developing solutions to basic medical issues.

The Faculty of Medicine, UMS, collaborates with several villages across the Solo Raya region, including Boyolali and Sukoharjo, as designated sites for field laboratory activities.

Medical Skills Laboratory

The Medical Skills Laboratory is designed to equip medical students with essential clinical competencies, including vital signs assessment, basic physical examinations, fundamental clinical procedures, diagnostic skills, and effective medical communication.

The laboratory is supported by medical mannequins and clinical equipment to enhance students’ proficiency in performing medical procedures with confidence and accuracy.

Laboratory

The Medical Computer Laboratory is designed to cultivate digital awareness and technological competence among UMS medical students in modern healthcare practice.

Equipped with the latest computer hardware and high-speed internet connectivity. The laboratory is also furnished with advanced software to fully support teaching and learning activities at the Faculty of Medicine, UMS.  >View Laboratory Event
