Klaten — In response to the lingering impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic on mental health, the Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Muhammadiyah Surakarta (FK UMS), organized a community outreach program titled “Coping Strategies and Digital Literacy Training” at SMK Muhammadiyah 1 Wedi, Klaten, on Friday (14/11/2025).

Urban areas such as Wedi remain vulnerable to mental health challenges, especially stress and depression among students. This training was designed to equip students and teachers with practical skills to maintain psychological well-being while strengthening their capacity to navigate digital learning environments.

The activity was carried out under the FK UMS PKM P2AD program, featuring dr. N. Juni Triastuti, M.Med.Ed., AIFO-K, CMLE, CCP, CPFP as the main speaker. Several FK UMS medical students also participated as facilitators to support the implementation of the program.

During the session, participants received comprehensive explanations about effective coping strategies to reduce symptoms of stress and depression. The training also covered digital literacy, emphasizing responsible technology use and methods to optimize digital tools to enhance academic performance.

Results from pre-test and post-test assessments showed a significant increase in participants’ knowledge, indicating strong learning gains throughout the program. The interactive format allowed students and teachers to engage actively through discussions and question-and-answer sessions.

We hope this coping strategies and digital literacy training encourages students to maintain their mental well-being and improve their academic performance,” dr. Juni stated.

Through this community service initiative, FK UMS reaffirms its commitment to promoting mental health awareness and supporting educational resilience in the post-pandemic era. The faculty hopes similar programs will continue to provide benefits to students, schools, and the wider community.
