Eat Healthy, Stay Strong: Diet for Elderly with Heart Disease and Metabolic Disorders

October 20, 2025 — A health education session on “Eat Healthy, Stay Strong: Diet for Elderly with Heart Disease and Metabolic Disorders” was held at the Aisyiyah Elderly Care Home, Sumber. The event was part of the Baitul Insan Kamil (BIK) Clinical Rotation Program attended by Young Doctors from the Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Muhammadiyah Surakarta (FK UMS).

The session was led by Regita Putri Ardhana, S.Ked., under the supervision of dr. Nanda Nurkusumasari, Sp.JP-FIHA (RS PKU Muhammadiyah Surakarta) and dr. Iin Novita Nurhidayati Mahmuda, M.Sc., Sp.PD, Subsp.P.T.I.(K), FINASIM from the Faculty of Medicine, UMS.

During the session, participants received material on the importance of adopting a healthy and balanced diet for the elderly, particularly those with heart disease and metabolic disorders. The session was delivered interactively, with emphasis on selecting nutritious food ingredients, managing meal schedules, and the importance of light physical activity to maintain overall health.

Through this activity, it is hoped that the elderly participants can improve their awareness and knowledge of proper dietary habits to support a better quality of life, and apply the principle of “eat healthy, stay strong” in their daily lives.
