October 20, 2025 — A health education session entitled “Interactive Nutrition Education to Improve School Children’s Knowledge and Attitudes Toward Iron Deficiency Anemia Prevention” was held at SMP Muhammadiyah Surakarta at 10:00 AM (Western Indonesian Time). The event was part of the Baitul Insan Kamil (BIK) Clinical Rotation Program organized by Young Doctors from the Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Muhammadiyah Surakarta (FK UMS).

The session was led by Anggitania Shella Brillianingtiyas, S.Ked., under the supervision of dr. Isna Nurhayati, Sp.A (RSUD Sukoharjo) and dr. Restu Triwulandari Tolibin, Sp.A from the Faculty of Medicine, UMS.

The activity aimed to improve students’ knowledge and attitudes regarding the importance of preventing iron deficiency anemia, which remains a prevalent nutritional concern among school-age children. Through visual media and educational games, participants were guided to understand the role of iron in the body, recognize the symptoms of anemia, and adopt a balanced diet rich in iron.

The session was designed to be interactive and engaging, enabling students to learn through play and absorb health messages more effectively. Beyond providing education, the activity also sought to foster early awareness of the importance of balanced nutrition as a means of maintaining health and preventing anemia.

Through this initiative, the Faculty of Medicine UMS reaffirms its commitment to health promotion and prevention through community service, while equipping medical students with firsthand experience in delivering health education in school settings.
