October 20, 2025 — Young Doctors from the Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Muhammadiyah Surakarta (FK UMS), held a health education session on “Raising Teenager Awareness Through Smoking Hazard Education to Prevent Pulmonary Tuberculosis” at SMA Muhammadiyah 1 Surakarta.
The activity was part of the Baitul Insan Kamil (BIK) Clinical Rotation Program and was led by Karina Dwi Hapsari, S.Ked., under the supervision of dr. Adam Fauzi Akbar, M.Biomed. and dr. Nining Lestari, MPH, FISPH, FISCM from the Faculty of Medicine, UMS.
The session aimed to improve teenagers’ understanding and awareness of the dangers of smoking as one of the primary risk factors for pulmonary tuberculosis. The activity was conducted interactively through a participatory approach and educational video screenings, enabling participants to better understand the negative effects of smoking on lung health.
Through this initiative, the Faculty of Medicine UMS continues to demonstrate its commitment to disease prevention and health promotion among teenagers through practical and sustainable educational activities.
